History of republic day

While we got independence from British rule on 15 August 1947, our country still lacked a solid constitution. Furthermore, India had no specialist and political powers to help the state function smoothly. By that time, the Government of India Act of 1935 was originally amended to govern, however, the Act leads more towards colonial rule. Therefore, there was a need to create a special constitution that stood for India.

Thus, Drs. B.R. Ambedkar headed a constitutional drafting committee on August 28, 1947. After drafting, it was presented before the Constituent Assembly on 4 November 1947 by the same committee. This entire process was very detailed and took 166 days to complete. In addition, the sessions organized by the committee were kept open to the public.

No matter the challenges and difficulties, our constitutional committee left no stone unturned to include the rights of all. The aim was to strike the right balance so that all citizens of the country could enjoy equal rights related to their religions, culture, caste, sex, creed, and more. Finally, he introduced the official Indian Constitution for the country on 26 January 1950.

Apart from this, the first session of the Parliament of India was also held on this day. Also, on 26 January, the first President of India, Dr. Also attended the oath-taking ceremony of Rajendra Prasad. Thus, this day is very important as it marks the end of British rule and the birth of India as a republican state.

Republic day celebration

Indians celebrate 26 January every year with great excitement and enthusiasm. On this day, people forget their religion, caste, creed, gender, and more. It brings the whole country together. It really shows the diversity of our country. The capital of India, New Delhi, celebrates it with a Republic Day parade that showcases the strength of the Indian Army and the cultural diversity of our country.

These parades also take place in other cities, where many schools participate. Children and professionals are happy to see so much effort. The way they grace the parade makes their country proud. We also hoist the national flag on this day. In New Delhi, the President of India hoists our national flag, following it with a national anthem played by military bands with a 21-gun salute.

In addition, in schools, the march is past and every student is required to attend the ceremony. In many schools, they also distribute sweets on this day. Although it is a day of great joy, we should not forget the struggle for freedom in which our ancestors took part. Furthermore, it is a day to celebrate the spirit of freedom and ensure India to help it reach greater heights in the future.
