One of the most memorable days in Indian history is 15 August. It is the day on which the Indian sub-continent got independence after a long struggle. There are only three national festivals in India which are celebrated as one in the whole country. One Independence Day (15 August) and the other two Republic Day (26 January) and Gandhi Jayanti (2 October). After independence, India became the largest democracy in the world. History of Our Independence Day

For almost two centuries, the British ruled over us. And the country's citizens suffered a lot from these oppressors. British officers treat us like slaves until we can fight them.

We fight for our independence, but we work tirelessly and selflessly under the guidance of our leaders Jawahar Lal Nehru, Subhash Chandra Bose, Mahatma Gandhi, Chandra Shekhar Azad, and Bhagat Singh. Some of these leaders choose the path of violence, while others choose nonviolence. But their ultimate goal was to expel the British from the country. And on August 15, 1947, the long-awaited dream came true.

Why do we celebrate Independence Day?
